Kia Picanto - True Value For Money
The Picanto made its debut half a decade back
, and last year it went through a metamorphosis of sorts. It got a new look, a fresh interior, and new mirrors. It now sports a very tough and sturdy exterior as well, and though it does not come with the usual seven year warranty of other Kia cars, you still have the three year advantage.
Packed with other features like an improved air conditioning system, music system, remote central locking and adjustable driver seat, you have a real winner. Yes, the boot space is smaller but it can still take in four to five grocery bags and you can get more space by dropping the rear seats. Kia has also taken care to provide you with a tyre sealant and inflator, rather than blocking the space with a spare wheel.
Other thoughtful features include the airbags and child seat fastening points for extra security. The result is that you have a car with peppy performance and youthful looks at a price that is affordable and that goes well with the brand image of Kia. Despite its rather cute and apparently small visage, the Kia Picanto packs a lot of space and seems to have everything necessary to make driving a pleasure.
When it comes to drive performance, this car offers good grip on the roads, despite its rather skinny tyres. However, body control at high speeds could be a lot better and you also need to put up with wind intrusion at such speeds. It negotiates the pot holes and bumps quite well and thanks to its small size can be maneuvered into tight parking spaces quite easily. This car does not score too high on quick acceleration and control at top speeds and the throttle is a bit more sensitive. It is ideal for in-city movement and is an absolute delight at lower speeds.
The Kia Picanto Strike is the latest offering from this company and is packed with excellent features like power windows at the front, apart from the usual power steering and central locking unit that can be operated through the remote.
In terms of affordability, the scrappage benefits introduced by the government has made the cost very attractive and Kia has passed on the benefits of this cost to the buyers with the result that it is flooded with a lot of new orders for this car. Like its predecessors, this car too offers excellent driving pleasure within the city and at moderately high speeds.
The car is not too great on highways due to its less-than-powerful engine. The cute radiator grille at the front has served to embellish its looks further. The only shortcoming is the discomfort tall drivers would face with their knees, as driving position adjustment is limited.
The one area this car scores very well in is the features it packs even in its basic models, such as ABS brakes, CD player and remote central locking. In terms of value for money, you are not likely to find anything better than the Kia Picanto and all Special Edition models, like the Kia Picanto Strike, are definitely worth it given the extra features and refinement they bring to the table.
