Don't Forget to Remember these Pieces of Holiday Advice

So you're going on holiday. You've booked your flights, found a place to stay, arranged transportation from the airport, to your hotel, and of course remembered to pack your suitcase with only what you need. But is there something you've forgotten to do? For many people going on holiday, there usually is one thing or task that gets overlooked, so don't find yourself regretting doing something later, because this handy guide will help you to keep track of what you need to do before you fly.

At Home

Do you have pets? Cats, dogs and even goldfish will need someone to look after them while you're away, so enlist a friend or neighbour to pop in once or twice a day just to make sure that your pets are ok, and to keep an eye on the house. Before you leave, make sure that all the doors and windows in the house are locked, and any objects of value, such as a laptop, a TV, DVDs and cash are out of sight of the windows, so as not to attract any unwanted attention. Cancel any deliveries that you might have booked, such as milk, fresh food or newspapers, you won't need them while you're away, and piles of post and food outside a front door can make it look like no one is home, which will make your home more attractive to thieves.Don't Forget to Remember these Pieces of Holiday Advice

At Work

Many workplaces use email to communicate with colleagues and clients, so make sure you put an out of office response onto your work email account, stating the dates that you'll be away on holiday, and who to contact in your absence. Make sure you've delegated your tasks, however small to your colleagues; this will ensure that no work is ignored or forgotten whilst you're away. It's also important to plan out your work load so that you don't get swamped when you come back from your holiday there is absolutely nothing worse than having to confront an inbox stuffed full of 200 emails. So plan your time well ahead of your trip and make sure you are on the ball before you go this will make it far easier to come back home.

Friends

It's also only fair to let your friends and family know that you are going to be away. So give them all a call or an email so they know that you'll be gone for a week. This way they won't get worried when they find you aren't picking up your phone. Social networking is a handy way to do this and you can simply update your status with your destination this will let everyone know you won't be contactable for a little while.

A holiday is a privilege, but no matter where you go make sure that you have covered these basics, or you could come home to a lot more stress than when you left. If you make sure all your responsibilities at home and work are tucked away you will have a great holiday.
