The Right Tool For The Job

The Right Tool For The Job

Weve often heard the saying, Lift with your legs

, not your back! And time and again, it has proven to be true. But one question that stumps many working in both industrial and agricultural fields is how to lift objects that are beyond the lifting capacity of one personor even a team of people. There are several options available to industrial and agricultural workers plagued by the pesky problem of not just transporting, but simply lifting heavy objects that are often awkward in shape.

Cranes

There is a different type of crane for virtually every industrial setting. Gantry cranes are just as useful and not as bulky or awkward as traditional cranes. These tools are adjustable in height and can be used on any smooth or flat surface. Traditional cranes are completely unusable in an interior setting; however, gantry cranes can be custom designed to fit inside virtually any environment. They are both adjustable in height and are made of either aluminum or steel.

SlingsThe Right Tool For The Job

In an industrial or agricultural setting, many machines could be used to lift and transport materials if properly modified. Slings can be added to a variety of equipment to make lifting, moving and carting heavy objects easier. Chain slings are one example. These slings are meant for rugged areas where both heavy lifting and harsh conditions are present. An even more popular sling is the wire sling. Wire slings are often favored in construction sites because they are low in cost and highly durable. However, one of the most versatile and widely used types of slings is the web sling. Web slings are lightweight, flexible and have wide bearing surfaces. They are also low in cost and can stretch further than chain or wire slings. This flexibility helps to decrease shock during loading. Slings are incredibly useful additions that can be added to a wide array of equipment.

Hoists

Manual chain hoists are a convenient and highly durable tool that can often be used to lift or move heavy loads. Most hoists come with a hardened alloy load chain, and are built with a braking mechanism. These chain hoists and hoist rings are perfect for high stress situations involved in industries where there is a need for high strength and flexibility. Another type of hoist that is common in many construction fields is the lever pulley. These pulleys are designed to be light and compact. While strong and durable, they are easily transported in a container as small as your toolbox.
