Tax Preparer Position With Tax Masters In Houston

Tax Masters leads the industry in level of service and has evolved over the past several years as one of the most consumer-oriented firms in the tax relief field.
Tax season is here again. While many seasonal Tax Preparers make their way into the business this time of year, Tax Masters in Houston offers year-round employment for certified Tax Preparers. Beginning with tax year 2011 the IRS requires all Tax Preparers to be certified and registered. Tax Masters is currently seeking certified, registered Tax Preparers in the Houston area. An added benefit is that Tax Masters provides ongoing training for Tax Preparers, providing the requisite 15 hours of continuing education on-site. Tax Preparers interested in seeking Enrolled Agent status are offered the necessary coursework to prepare them for that step, as well.
The Position
The Tax Preparer is responsible for preparing and completing individual, S corporation and partnership tax returns, assuring compliance with federal, state and local tax laws and regulations, and minimizing tax liability through sound and informed application of laws and regulations.
Primary responsibilities for the position include:
*Putting client needs first and assisting all clients with a positive, can-do attitude
*Computing taxes owed or overpaid, using adding machines or personal computers, and complete entries on forms, following tax form instructions and tax tables
*Interviewing clients to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances
*Preparing or assist in preparing simple to complex tax returns for individuals, corporations and/or partnerships
*Reviewing financial records such as prior tax returns, income statements and documentation of expenditures in order to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns
*Using all appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to keep clients' taxes to a minimum
*Consulting tax law handbooks or bulletins in order to determine procedures for preparation of atypical returns
*Furnishing taxpayers with sufficient information and advice in order to ensure correct tax form completion
Knowledge and skill requirements include:
*Impeccable customer service skills with a drive to advocate for all clients
*Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills
*Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
*Experience with tax preparation systems such as UltraTax
*Three or more years experience preparing taxes for individuals, corporations and partnerships
*Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure with accuracy while maintaining a positive attitude
*High school diploma or equivalent required, some college or tax preparation training preferred
