Guiding Teens Through The Turbulent Teen Years
Most teenagers experience certain issues during this particular stage of their lives
. Peer pressure is common, and it is evident in plenty of teens that they want to belong to the crowd. In relation to this, most teens will have the tendency to decide, head on, according to what they think is right, just to feel that they belong.During this stage, teens also face the challenge of walking toward different paths and make different choices. Unlike adults who can easily choose between right and wrong, young people still lack that certain sense of decision, thus they may make the wrong choices and live with the consequences for the rest of their lives.
All parents want the best for their children, and as a parent of a teenager, you would certainly want yourteenager to follow the right path. Guidance is very crucial, and this guidance can start at home, and from youth groups that are holistically and spiritually centered as well.
Think about youth camps, but with a more spiritual and holistic approach. These camps will not only help teens overcome their own insecurities and some other problems, but also helps them to become a lot closer to God. In these camps and retreats, the teens will be able to grow holistically. It would give them a sense of responsibility not just for themselves but also for others. Moreover, there are some other core values that teens will be able to learn during theses retreats and camps ? these values include openness, kindness, integrity, generosity, prosperity and the like.
As mentioned earlier, there are certain values that teens will be able to learn upon joining these camps and retreat. Do not expect camps and retreats to work like magic, where teens will automatically learn these values. There are certain activities and lessons in these camps and retreats that will help teens gain these values during the camp, and hopefully, apply them in real life.
Camps have two kinds of lessons, youth ministry object lessons and youth group object lessons. These are two different things that have two different focuses ? God and others. These lessons involve numerous fun activities that your teen will surely enjoy and learn from. Youth Ministry lessons focuses on a teen?s personal relationship with God.
Youth group object lessons are the second set of lessons, which allow teenagers to interact with their peers. This teaches them that their spiritual relationship with God should not only be kept with themselves, but should also be manifested in how they deal and treat others.
God, Me and Others - An Important Combination The two lessons stress Christ's two most important commandments, loving God and loving ones neighbors. These can play a big role in your teen's development, and may even help influence the way they think and decide as teenagers, and later on as adults as well.
