Dealing with Behavioral Problems in Children

Only children
Only child is most of the time considered as the most spoiled, over influenced by adults or lonely in few cases. This is true but not the entire truth. Only child gets more attention, love and care, more education and more stimulation.
The downside for the child is usually because of the lack of company and absence of playmates. Their skills may not be strong enough to attract other children, or they may be adult in their attitude and thinking. This makes them unable to mix with other children.
In many cases the lack of energy or lack of money or cash is the cause of swings and roundabouts in children behavior. It is not always important to have a brother or sister to fill the empty place but an extended family upbringing is more essential than anything else. If child knows about his roots, family relationships and other values he will definitely be a responsible child. As there is a saying, "it takes a village to raise a child.' I think a village full of people is more important than a brother or sister."
Pocket money
Pocket money is not required by small children until they start school. Pocket money given to a six year child is normally wasted. As he grew up to the eight years the pocket money increases and so on. Pocket money given to a child is largely depends on your income or how much you can afford.
Imaginary or Pretend friends
It is quite common in young children to talk and play with pretend friends. This behavior is common in one out of ten children with age around 3 years. This age is usually called as the age of Technicolor Imagination. Pretend friend is normally of the same sex as the child with a specific name given to him by your child. This is a normal behavior of the child and there is no emotional stress, loneliness or disturbance involved in this.
Having pretend or imaginary friends is common in girls than boys. It reflects their strong creative style of temperament. Parents need not to be worried about this behavior and there is no treatment required for this kind of behavior as this behavior changed by the age of eight naturally.
Many children make friendship with animals and talk with them, while there are others who love to talk with objects, for instance, an Australian girl loved Sydney Harbor Bridge so much that, she often talked to the bridge.
Shoplifting
Shoplifting is severe of all the problems in child which most of the parents hesitate to acknowledge. Shoplifting develops in child when they are allowed to lurk around the shops or they become a part of some bad company.
However, you can easily pretend that shoplifting never happened, but it is essential for your child to stand facing their actions in order to learn a lesson. If possible, return the goods or in other case the repayment should be done from the pocket money of the child. Imposing strict compensation demands can have an adverse affect on your child.
If you feel that shoplifting or stealing has become the severe issue for your child, it is better to seek help from any community clinic or professional psychologist.
