Caravan Holidays In The South West Of England

Caravan Holidays In The South West Of England

The South West of England, and Cornwall in particular have long been a popular tourist destination

. People choose the area as it has Britain's best climate (if you like sun and not rain). It is warmer than anywhere else, and has a magnificent coastline which is disproportionately long due to its peninsular shape. For many people sun and sea are the only two boxes that need ticking before they decide to book a caravan holiday and head off for a week or weekend.

Cornwall has a great array of caravan parks to choose from that spread across the whole area. The majority of them have a swimming pool at the very least, and most have enough facilities and a local beach to keep you happy without having to leave the local area. In this case, probably the best thing to do is to find out which caravan parks in the area offer the best facilities, and note how near they are to the beach. If you are planning a family holiday, many parks have the services to take the kids off your hands for an hour or two, and keep them entertained while you get some well earned rest and relaxation.

If you do want to get out and about a bit more, then there is plenty to do in Cornwall, so your choice of caravan park is more likely to be down to it's location than its facilities. A central location would be a good choice, although Cornwall is quite vast so you may want to get a map out and plot your itinerary before booking a caravan. There is plenty to see and do, and a guide to the main attractions may help you.

Located in the South of Cornwall, the Eden Project is more than just the biggest biosphere in Britain. It is a wonderful place to visit, and has been developed not only for conservation purposes but also education. With several different climatic regions, it is a great way to see other countries without stepping on a plane, and a real adventure for young children and adults alike. An area with a rich history and steeped in mythology, Cornwall has several castles to visit, including Tintagel, which was purportedly the home of King Arthur for a while. He is supposed to have been born on Tintagel Island and whether you believe that or not, the surrounding area is worth visiting anyway as it consists of rugged and outstanding coastline that is home to a variety of unique flora and fauna.

If you do fancy your caravan holiday to be within a stone's throw of a bustling seaside town, then Newquay is a popular choice for surfers and families. Obviously the sea is the main attraction, but if you'd like take take the kids on a tour of shops for presents and trinkets to take back home then Newquay is ideal. It also has numerous eateries, so if you can get a babysitter which some caravan parks do provide, the night is yours. Caravan Holidays In The South West Of England

If you fancy a bit of 'myth chasing', then head up to Bodmin Moor to see if you can spot the 'Beast'. Not quite as much of a legend as Loch Ness, at least a submarine isn't required to chase it down. Take a stout pair of walking boots to save your ankles, and a tin of Kit Kat, or bottle of catnip to lure the beast out from it's lair.

Further South, in fact Britain's most Southerly point, is Lands's End, which is a stark but nevertheless stunning place to visit. The view out over the Atlantic and nearby islands feels quite mystical. It can get a bit windy there, so do go prepared, and take a map to plan a stop off in one of Cornwall's famed tea rooms on the way back.

Whichever part you decide to stay in, Cornwall has a lot to offer, and although the internet is a great place to research holidays, do some asking around when you get there to find out where the best places to visit are locally, as you can't beat a bit of local knowledge. And don't forget to pop into the local tourist information centre to find out what activities are going on in the area. There's so much going on it would be a shame to miss out.
