Yes, that's correct...the title says it all: Advice On Selling Whatever It Is That You Are Selling From Someone Who Has Been Successfully Selling Since Childhood! This is the fifth part in a series of articles about that dirty word: Selling!

I hope you have previously read Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4,but if you haven't, I stronglysuggest thatyou go read them because they are great, and they lead to this one!I also hope that you will forward links to these articles, toanyone you know, whomight need this information! When you are selling something, as in a home-based business, and you are just starting out...treat it like a business, and call it "My Business" when mentioning it to friends, acquaintances, et cetera. When someone smugly asks if you are making money at it, you can tell them that you are. Then they will want to know if you are making "a lot" of money, and you can say, "Well, I am not c-u-r-r-e-n-t-l-y making enough to live on, YET...but I will eventually!"

Think positive and be positive, and believe that you can do it and you will do it, and do not give up! I use, as an example...Avon, a great company, with great products, and great compensation! Now, I believe thattheir "kit" to get started costs about ten bucks, and it is basically a few catalogs, and some literature to read to get started, and maybe a couple of samples.

There are some gals who buy the kit, then give one catalog to grandma, and one catalog to the lady next door, and because neither of them immediately place an order...the gal gets discouraged and quits! Big Mistake!

On the other side of the coin, is the woman who buys the kit, and enthusiastically loans all of the catalogs out to people, (keeping one with her at all times to show people, face-to-face) and she excitingly tells each person that she needs the book back, tomorrow, and hopefully with an order...and in the first week she sells like $500 worth of products!

Then when she places her first order, and sees that she made maybe $200 in commissions, she decides to put that money back into her business, and she buys 100 more catalogs, and some samples, and a few full-sized products that might have been on sale, either to use as give-away gifts to gals as an incentive to order $50 or more. She will also have some inventory to sell, while showing the catalogs!

So, in the above scenario, there are two women who bought the same $10 kit...one of them quit before she even got started, and the other is on her way to really turning it into a full-time business and livelihood! YOU can do the same, and you can do it with any company that you desire to work with!

Also, you MUST avoid listening to negativity! Do Not let someone you know discourage you, just because they might think they couldn't do it, or that it won't work...stay away from them, for a while, and go build your business!

You have to stay focused and motivated and keep yourself "pumped-up!"

It might be a great idea to also read some books to get you pumped up and psyched up to do a good job with your "new business!" You should also try Zig Ziglar's Secrets Of Closing The Sale.

You can go to the bookstore or library and check out the section where they have books about salesmanship...and every single day, you should spend at least a half an hour reading these types of books! If you do not have the time, turn off the blasted television!
