Yes, that's correct...the title says it all: Advice On Selling Whatever It Is That You Are Selling From Someone Who Has Been Successfully Selling Since Childhood! This is the eighth part in a series of articles about that dirty word: Selling!
I have been literally selling since I was ten years old, and in as few words as possible, I was a boy scout who subscribed to Boy's Life Magazine, and used to "send away" for things listed in the classified section. I quickly got on mailing lists and also became fascinated with the US Postal Service and also the receiving of mail.
One day I got an offer to sell Christmas Cards for a company that said I could keep a dollar a box as a commission, so with my Mom's permission, I mailed in the postcard, and a week later I had the sales kit in hand, and went out into the neighborhood, knocking on every door that I possibly could. I sold about 75 boxes and made $75 which was a lot of money way back then!
After that experience, I was never able to get away from selling and I have always loved it! I also started writing around the same time (age 10) and first got published when I was seventeen...so I have had a life-long passion for selling and writing!
YOU have to get passionate about something, and if selling is your thing, I am here to give you a few pointers, a few tidbits of advice! When I was in my early twenties, I had a friend who just turned 18, and because his folks kicked him out of the house, I let him crash at my apartment for a while. He needed a job, was a high-school dropout, but he had a great personality, good communication ability, some balls, and I helped him choose a career of selling long distance phone services to businesses! He made almost $30,000 the very first year, and that was a long time ago! Today he OWNS a long distance phone company!
The bottom line is that YOU can do whatever you make up your mind to do! You really can...so turn off that miserable TV that robs so many people of their precious time, and be more productive! Get busy and get working towards a goal!
Cut out some photos, from a magazine, and post them on the bathroom mirror and in the kitchen...a car you would like to own one day, a boat, a beautiful photo of an exotic vacation destination that you want to visit someday...these are there daily, to remind you why you are going to get out there each day and WORK!
