Water Shortages This Summer?

Water Shortages This Summer?

Water Shortages This Summer?

It seems we can't go more than a few days with a bit of warm weather without the fear of a hosepipe ban.

However, water preservation and conservation is a serious matter and while many of us find it a frustration in the summer, the consequences of our annual water shortage could be a lot worse.

Agriculture, industry and the environment all depend on water which is why wastage can be costly. And while hosepipe bans can seem like a draconian measure, it is only because too many of us waste water that it becomes necessary.

But conserving and saving water is vital and there is a lot you can do to cut down on your water usage:

Gardeners use a water butt

Collecting rainwater for the garden is a no-brainer. You might not want to drink it but rainwater is perhaps the best method of watering the plants and shrubs in your back yard. By keeping a water but (making sure it is covered you'll always have a good supply of water for the garden.

Shower not bath

It's an old saying but it's true. Showers really do use less water as long as you don't spend too long in there. Why not use a water monitor or shower timer to make sure you don't linger too long.

Recycle Water

An Eco Kettle will reduce electricity usage

If you do have a bath why not use the water to wash the car rather than drawing fresh to just leave all over the pavement. You can recycle water in all sorts of other ways too although make sure you only drink fresh water!

Eco Kettle

For those that drink a lot of tea and coffee, unnecessarily boiling water not only wastes water but electricity too. Eco kettles only boil requested amounts such as one cup. They don't overboil' unnecessarily either. There a wide variety of eco kettles around too from one cuppa's to large family eco kettles:
