I have watched so many instances of children facing the challenge of two wheels and not experiencing any of the fear which I remember from my own past. It is an absolute delight to see even the most cautious child find that they can go fast safely.

Christmas gives us the chance to get our grandchildren started on this wonderful journey and I am sure that - weather permitting - the park will soon be full of their cries of joy.

While birthdays also provide another opportunity for the walking bike as gift of choice, I think it is important to remember that a child's development sometimes pays no heed to the calendar.
