Hot spices for peppy cuisines: Black Pepper and Jathipathri Red

Spices of a wide variety have been the essential ingredients in Asian cooking for long. Indian cuisine is a lavish spread of delicacies ranging from sweet to extremely spicy with a blend of fragrances that induce appetite. Spices like Black Pepper and Jathipathri Red have been used in cooking up sumptuous meals in India and its bordering nations, though they have varied uses in other popular cultures around the world. It would be unfair to limit them to food only as they have a lot of medicinal qualities in them that keep the body fit. Jathipathri Red is the Indian name of nutmeg that can also be made into oil and butter.

In European cuisine, use of nutmeg is generous in dishes made with potatoes and meat, and in soups and sauces. Japanese food also uses nutmeg powder to bring flavor and taste into it. Indian cuisine uses nutmeg especially in rich Mughlai dishes and sweet dishes apart from the assortment of spices called the garam masala that is added to food for flavoring. These were only some of the uses of Jathipathri Red in cuisines all around the globe, but it has several medicinal properties that benefit the infants and old alike.

Among the family of spices, black pepper, with an Indian origin has diverse uses in international cuisines. Black pepper is commonly sprinkled with almost every meal, be it on eggs early in the morning or soup at supper. It adds a zing to the food and drinks besides titillating the taste buds and improving digestion. As it helps in digestion, it doesn't allow gas to form in the stomach and also eliminates constipation, which in turn keeps the body free of discomfort. Black pepper is also rich in antioxidants and antibacterial properties that are good for a healthy body.

Since these are essentials in every household globally, they are readily available in the market. India has been a primary source of spices since primitive times and it has also helped in strengthening the economy to a great extent. Black pepper in the form of powder and whole is available from trusted producers who supply only genuine spices devoid of impurities. Similarly, nutmeg or Jathipathri Red which is known by various names is also available in packets for consumption in powdered or whole form. These spices have a valuable past and have a mention in many ancient texts and legends surrounding the oriental world.
