, then Disney's upcoming Rapunzel remake could be the company's biggest princess film since Little Mermaid.
Rapunzel is quite possibly the only girl-centric fairytale that Disney hasn't touched, but this fall they'll have mined the last of the Brothers Grimm's dark and iconic classics.
The vocal cast for Tangled is incomparable, pairing up-and-comers like Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi (as Rapunzel and her rescuer Flynn Rider) with tried and true talent like Donna Murphy (voicing the evil Mother Gothel) and some of the industry's best character actors like Ron Perelman and Jeffrey Tambor.
What the other Tangled movie reviews probably won't mention is that Disney's pulled out all the stops for this production, since it will be the company's 50th animated feature.
Another interesting fact about Tangled is that while it was animated using CGI and 3D technology, the minds behind the Tangled concept wanted it to be an homage to the old fashioned animation that made the company what it is today, so the art was designed to have a storybook-style painterly feel not seen in Disney's more recent Pixar entries.
Another aspect of the film not frequently mentioned in other Tangled movie reviews is that this time around Disney is actually down-playing the princess role in hopes of attracting more young male viewers. That's why, late in production, Disney heads decided to change the movie's title from the obvious - Rapunzel - to the edgier and less gender-specific - Tangled.
Families bringing both young boys and young girls should be pleased to see that this movie offers empowering characters for both sexes without polarizing either. Taking a page from other recent Disney films, families can also expect a few subtle high brow jokes aimed at adult audience members.
