Signs and symptoms of basal cell carcinoma include the following:
* Scaly skin with white crusty edges that may have a sunken middle
* Bumps that are shiny, pink, brown or dark and that will not go away
* White patches on the skin that look like scars
* Pink spots on the skin that may have a depression in the middle
