Deals with dissecting one, this type of microscopes has low magnification. It is also powered by light. It is better than a compound one because it can view the objects larger. Even, it can view the objects in three dimensions. It is also known as stereo microscope.
Meanwhile, a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) uses electrons to create the image. So, this device does not use the light in creating an image. Similar to a stereo microscope, it can produce three-dimensional image with high magnification and resolution. Even, it has a larger focus depth.
Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) is similar to SEM. To create an image, it uses electrons instead of light. The material of this device must be very thin. Using electrons, it gives the viewer the high resolution and magnification. As the result, it can produce two-dimensional images.
