Samburu Intrepids Camp is a luxury safari tented camp in the midst of the rugged and savagely beautiful semi arid desert of northern Kenya, located in the Samburu National Reserve on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River; the Samburu Intrepids offers unique game viewing in its immediate surroundings.Located 345 kilometers north of Nairobi, the journey to the Samburu Intrepid Camp involves a 50-minute flight to the Samburu airstrip followed by a 20-minute drive through the reserve. Samburu Intrepids Club 27 en suite tents and palm thatched main areas are set on stilts to catch the breezes, Like Mara Intrepids; its Adventurers Club offers children an outstanding interactive safari experience. Activities include guided nature walks, butterfly identification, plaster-casting animal prints, traditional singing, dancing and craftwork sessions, and learning Maasai skills including spear throwing, archery and fire-building.
Teenage guests revel in the star-gazing and astronomy, first-aid and survival sessions, orienteering, guided bush walks, game drives and camel rides of the Young Rangers Club. Visiting the Samburu village of Kiltamany is a particularly worthwhile experience. They can step inside a mud hut, try to pump water, and see the school that was set up with a portion of guests' fees. Between times, cool off and relax by the pool.
Samburu Intrepids enjoys a unique perspective of one of Africa's most celebrated wildernesses. The spacious tents boast the very latest in luxury camping, with soft four-poster beds, handsome mahogany closets, writing desks, and en suite bathrooms with steaming hot showers. The main dining room has a seating capacity of 60, and opens onto an outdoor dining terrace, where buffet breakfasts and lunches are served overlooking the river.

Behind the bar, surrounded by shady sunbathing areas, is the freeform swimming pool - a soothing drop of blue in this otherwise arid land. Children welcome under parents supervision.
Samburu Intrepids Club is a relaxed a comfortable lodge sitting above the Uaso Nyiro River. The Samburu National Reserve itself is wonderful, with so many wildlife species unique to Samburu and the fact that it is not too crowded. The rooms are permanent tents sitting on platforms above the river bank; the rooms are cool, shaded by large trees and the beds are comfortable with ceiling fans to take the edge of the afternoon heat. The staff at the intrepid are cheerful, helpful, informative and genuinely friendly addressing you by name in the majority of instances; you are made to feel very welcome. the evening talks, by local Samburu warriors came to life with their knowledge and enthusiasm.
In addition to the morning and evening game drives you could take a guided walk with one of the Samburu warriors which opened a new dimension to a better understanding the eco system that makes up the park. Samburu Intrepids was a wonderful tented camp, the reception, bar, dining lodge is a beautiful timber framed open sided pavilion overlooking the river. It really fills like a special place in the middle of the wild. The tents themselves are very nice with firm, comfy beds, nice linens, great bathroom. This is a lodge that goes out of its way to give you a warm welcome and to ensure that you leave with fond memories.
