, country duo Rascal Flatts recently released a Christmas song. The group's rendition of "Away in a Manger," which has become a country radio staple this holiday season, was made available for download on their official website the week before Christmas. Said one-third of the group, Jay DeMarcus, to Great American Country, "This song is a celebration to our fans. From the bottom of our hearts, we are so proud and grateful for all the work you put into promoting Rascal Flatts each and every day." How's that for the spirit of the season?The country trio performed their last performance of 2009 on Dec. 11 at the Grand Ole Opry, but they will be back in the road in 2010 so check online for Rascal Flatts tickets to see them live in the new year. Former Hootie and the Blowfish frontman and reigning CMA New Artist of the Year Darius Rucker will join the band on tour. The American Living Unstoppable Tour will begin with a two-night stand in Uncasville, Conn. and run through mid-March, although fans are hoping it will last even longer!
The day before their final gig of the year, the group paid a visit to Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. After officiating the tree lighting ceremony at the Nashville hospital, for which they've raised over $3 million in the past few years, the band mingled with the staff, patients and their families. The Opry donated tickets to see them perform during their Dec. 11 gig to the patients, families and staff at the hospital as well.
Rascal Flatts has been touring in support of the band's sixth album, Unstoppable, which has been living up to its name by topping the charts and unleashing hit singles since its April 2009 release. The title of the group's most recent album is also an apt descriptor for the band's career. The trio, comprised of Joe Don Rooney and first cousins Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus, released their debut album, Rascal Flatts, via Lyric Street in 2000. Three singles off the album, including "Prayin' for Daylight," landed among the Top 10 and paved the way for future success.
Rascal Flatts co-produced 2002's Melt, the group's sophomore album, which yielded their first No. 1 single, "These Days." Melt sold one million copies in just eight weeks and was followed by a live album and subsequently the group's third effort, 2004's Feels Like Today, which topped the country charts. Still Feels Good followed in 2007 and went platinum thanks to the success of No. 1 single "Take Me There." 2009's Unstoppable became their fourth consecutive album to open at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart upon its arrival earlier this year.
Aside from touring more in support of Unstoppable, Rascal Flatts has a television appearance lined up in 2010. The trio will appear as themselves in an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, airing on CBS early on in the new year. One of the group's members will be a victim of a crime in the episode, titled "Unshockable," while the other two members will be suspects!
