It would be more sensible to think that parents who want divorce must prioritize feelings of the children and should not selfishly insist that one has a sole right for child custody.
Children still need the love of both parents, even though they are living separately. Both need to have a share of spending time with the child, to help the child easily accept the separation of the parents. Parents must reassure children of the love and care in spite of the separation since they are souls that they voluntarily created in this world. Thinking of the child first is always the primary responsibility of ANY parent, whether you are with their other parent or not.
