Divorce may be initiated because of a lot of reasons
. It may be because both parties are not happy with their marriage anymore, but it may also be because of petty things. Whatever the reason both parties have, children are always affected with this decision.Usually in the dissolution of marriage, mothers get the custody of the children. Some couples may even decide to work together on having joint custody, which is by far the most promising since it allows both parents to take care of the child. Even if there are ways to make this process amicable, there are still couples that cannot settle the arrangement as to the rights of both parents to bring up the children. Due to this problem, some parents feel forced to kidnap their own children, which should not be the case.
The stress of divorce to children can vary. Children under the age of 5 usually react with grief and rage thinking that they are actually left by their parents. Older children, on the other hand, understand the situation a little more clearly. But even if that's the case, some still blame themselves for the divorce of their parents. Also, as a result of the break up of family, adolescents become socially awkward and embarrassed. In addition to all of these, studies show that children with divorced parents commonly have lower grades than those children with intact, happily married families.
