There is never a loss of things to do in New York City and this extends into all areas and aspects of it
. This includes the popular and well loved park that exits in the city's center. Central Park is one of the residents' favorite aspects of their city and most of them spend a great deal of time in it all year. In addition, tourists frequently want to visit the park as part of their trip, though they are frequently surprised by all it has to offer. They generally go there due to its recognized fame, though its symbolic relevance to the city often overlooks the actual dynamic cultural and historical aspects of it. And tourist quickly find out what residents have known all along.There are a number of great outdoor recreational aspects of the park that are available throughout the year, though of course the winter season is typically limited to cross-country skiing and other snow and ice oriented activities. However, unlike most city parks, there are a great number of cultural attractions, entertainment options and dynamic features of this park that extend far beyond the outdoor sport and recreational features, though they do not mitigate the fun and importance of them. The park is full of various landmarks and some of them date back centuries and have very interesting and intriguing histories associated with them. Other aspects of the park are relevant to its, as well as the rest of New York's continued development and cultural evolution.
In addition to all of the activity oriented attractions at the park there are multiple and greatly intriguing monuments that are featured there. Several of these have war related figures and themes and are intended to honor the military services of this country's armed forces throughout the years. The statue titled the 107th United States Infantry is a powerful tribute to the soldiers of World War One. The solitary soldier standing at the 7th Regiment Memorial testifies to the bravery of the soldiers long before the first World War and honors the men who fought in the Civil War and defended the Union. The sculpture was funded by officers and soldiers of the regiment collected more than $40,000 in contributions. The completed statue was unveiled in June of 1874 and continues today to stand in its original location in the park. These are only the beginning of the statues and various memorial elements in Central Park and it is easy to spend an entire afternoon there and still not do and see everything the park has to offer.
