Gone are the days when teenagers would receive a new car, a cash prize, or a vacation as a reward for working hard and getting good grades. Wealthy parents are now encouraging their youngsters to work hard and get good grades for any cosmetic surgery procedures of their choice. The trend of rewarding hard-working teenagers with cosmetic surgery gifts is not something found in reality TV shows such as "The Hills." Parents in real life are doing it all the time with the help of cosmetic surgeons.

According to a Reuters report, the cosmetic surgery centers of South Korea offer bonuses and incentives to parents who reward their hard-working teenagers with cosmetic makeovers. The JoongAng Daily reports that exhausted students in South Korea head straight for the cosmetic surgeon's table to get their rewards. While some of them choose to give an upward tilt to their noses to make them appear western, others choose a double eyelid surgery to make their eyes look bigger. Eye and nose jobs appear to be immensely popular among the youth, with double eyelid procedures being more popular among young women because it makes their eyes look bigger and more attractive. South Korean cosmetic surgeons are making it easier for parents as well as teenagers by offering huge discounts for kids and bonuses for mothers.

The JoongAng report says that the mothers of students who choose to do eye and nose jobs simultaneously will receive a free Botox treatment. The manager of a cosmetic surgery clinic in South Korea informed the daily that the list of reservations grew steadily even before the university exams commenced. The South Korean cosmetic surgery industry is thriving because of the excessive focus on education in the country. This means that South Korea is packed with students, who are rewarded with cosmetic surgery treatments for the hard academic work they put in. Teenager cosmetic surgery is still fiercely debated in different parts of the world despite the large number of teens who go in for breast augmentation procedures, lip work, eyelid work, nose jobs, and a series of other cosmetic procedures. Prominent cosmetic surgeons are both for and against teen cosmetic surgery. While some of them warn against cosmetic procedures such as nose jobs when the growth process is still on, others say that selected cosmetic procedure to enhance self-esteem, such as a breast augmentation procedures in case of teenage girls with underdeveloped breasts or breast reduction procedures in case of teenage boys with male boobs, will not only relieve mental distress, but also enhance self-esteem and quality of life. Before permitting teenagers to go under the knife, parents as well as teens should spend several hours clarifying issues with their cosmetic surgeons.
