Kids Should Be Kids
Everything in modern age seems to move at a pace that is far too fast
, savouring each moment seems to become increasingly difficult. We are constantly bombarded with information from a massive variety of mediums including newspapers, television and the newest kid on the block the internet. It is becoming more and more difficult to live your life without being told it is your moral responsibility to be helping every human being on the planet through various different charities it doesnt matter if you are already supporting numerous charities there are still more that you could be helping. What is scary is that it is not just adults that are feeling overwhelmed with the quantity of information and what they are expected to take accountability for kids are feeling pressured to be single handed saving the planet. Childrens experience has moved from stranger danger to being scared that a robber is going to come into their house and take all of their belongings! How have we let this happen? The world is no more dangerous than it was when we were younger despite what we would all like to think, society has not become more depraved we just have the access to the information about crime from a large range of places from the UK to world wide.So what have we turned our kids into, a generation of individuals who think that everything is out to get them and that the world revolves around their needs and demands. We can all remember wanting things when we were younger usually to be met with the words I want doesnt get not of course darling I wouldnt want to cause you emotional trauma by depriving you! I cant remember my friends feeling emotionally traumatised by not having that toy car or doll when they were younger! This then trickles into what children wear, being given the choice years ago meant picking between one brightly coloured pair of leggings or another not knee high boots and which designer label you would like emblazoned across your bum. Our idea of designer was dash or gap certainly not Gucci and Dior and to be frank we wouldnt be concerned after rolling around in dirt if the colour complimented our skin tone!
A turning Point
So has the whole world gone completely batty or are there still some people and companies that would like kids to stay kids like they should?! Love them or hate them Crocs have long been creating fun kid specific shoes that are the shape of sharks or emblazoned with their favourite Disney characters. Although many people think that Crocs are not very flattering and find the colours too garish I would like to remind them of the clothes that we were tortured with reversible jumpers are one example! Kids clothing should be colourful fun and very importantly age suitable childrens Crocs certainly fit this criteria.
Let kids be kids, that childlike innocence should celebrated not taken away from them. There is plenty of time for provocative clothing and designers when they are old enough to understand what it means.
