Island Hopping In A Hawaiian Paradise
The Hawaiian Islands are one of the most popular vacation spots in the entire world
. Individuals from not only the United States, but across all continents, come to the beautiful tropical paradise to experience new things, vacation, and even, sometimes, to get married.Hawaii is made up of a chain of six islands, which are Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii's Big Island. The islands are very different and offer different activities, vacationing spots, and sites, but all are majestically beautiful and full of many attractions for any visitor to keep themselves entertained.
The island of Kauai has the only navigable rivers in the Hawaiian Islands. The Wailua River is an especially popular area for kayaking and canoeing.
The river is twenty miles long, and is home to many different types of wildlife and lush fauna. Open air boats offer tours of the river, as well.
There are two popular and accessible rivers found here: Opaekaa Falls and Wailua Falls. The scenery along the river is so beautiful that it is also a very popular spot for wedding ceremonies.
On the North Shore of Kauai, try visiting the Napali Coast. With velvety green cliffs, majestic waterfalls, and deep valleys, this is the perfect location to sightsee and photograph.
Hike the Napali Coast along the Kalalau Trail, which spans 11 miles and begins at Kee Beach. Those that do not wish to hike the trail can also view the lovely coast by boat, kayak, or air tour.
If you would rather take in some of the culture of Kauai, pay a visit to Hanalei Town, the home of agriculture and art on the island. Here, many art galleries showcase work by artists of Kauai, mostly carving made of rare and native Hawaiian woods.
You could also pay a visit to a taro farm. Taro is a dense root that is the main component in the Hawaiian staple called "poi."
Oahu is the island most devoted to tourism and adventure. This island is full of beautiful resorts and an unlimited amount of activities.
While visiting the island, try taking your whole family to the beach for a surf lesson. You can spend the day practicing in the pristine turquoise waters.
Another fun family adventure on the island is the Dole Plantation. A fun activity there is the "World's Largest Maze," in which those who dare to tackle the puzzle must find six secret stations before solving the mystery of the maze.
If you would like to learn more about the Dole Plantation, hop on the twenty minute train ride in which you are guided through the farm and taught about Hawaiian agriculture. You and your family can also visit the Pineapple Variety Garden and learn about the twenty different types of pineapple grown there.
Also on the island of Oahu is Pearl Harbor; this historical site is one that you must not miss. See where the U.S.S. Arizona was sunk at sea, along with many sailors and service men.
If you are looking for a more traditional Hawaiian vacation, where you are able to take in the majestic beauty of the islands without all the hustle and bustle, then take a trip to the island of Molokai. This island, said to be the birthplace of hula dancing, is the quiet and relaxing alternative to the excitement and adventure of Oahu.
On Molokai, take a bike ride and view the beautiful scenery of the untouched beaches and serene cliffs. You can also take a deep sea fishing excursion or whale watch.
On the island of Lanai are two high-caliber golf courses. Spend a day on the green on the island of Lanai; you may never be content golfing on the mainland again!
Maui is the island most vacationers visit for underwater adventure. On the island, try snorkeling on Molokini, a tiny island off of the main island.
Those looking for an exciting alternative to sightseeing should take a horseback ride up to Haleakala. This national park houses the highest peak in all of Maui.
The biggest attractions on Hawaii's Big Island are definitely volcanoes. You will not want to miss a visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where lava flows meet the sea.
