How to write children's thriller

Thriller is one of the most popular genres in the market today. We all love thrillers because they make us feel strong emotions. The feeling of fear, surprise and shock are all common while reading a thriller. A children's thriller has much the same elements but since it is aimed at a much younger audience, there are a few things which are a bit different.

1. Keep the language simple- Do not use complex millitary/medical/archealogical terminology or technical jargon as children will be confused by these words. Try to give a complex thing a comple name which kids can easily remember.

2. Use Cliffhangers- One of the greatest hallmarks of thrillers is a cliffhanger or sentences which make us want to read more about an unfinished action. Use these in children's thriller. Children have low concentration spans and will start getting bored and start looking elsewhere if you don't keep them hooked on to the story. Make chapters shorter and end each one with a cliffhanger.

3.Not too much violence/shooting- This will not only increase the age rating dramatically, but also make it hard for kids to remain interested as they will have a hard time following fast paced action scenes with so much going on.

4. The plot should be something a child can understand- Mafia and criminal organisation go out of the scope of comprehension of a child. When you were eight or nine, how much did you know about mafia? Spy stories are somewhat easy to relate to for children as many cartoons/movies feature detectives/spies.

5. Use short sentences- These will enchance the feeling of suspense. Also, spacing them out well will make it easier for kids to read and they will not lost interest.
