First Aid Kits For Children

First aid kits for children are full of the essential contents you need for small

injuries as well as in emergencies that occur when children are around. These kits are essential if you are a parent or grandparent or running a day care center. Normal and many adventure medical kits for children consist of elastic bandages, adhesive bandages, cotton swabs, skin creams, pain relievers, tweezers, sterile dressings, eye patch, ice packs, thermometer, torch light, batteries, snakebite kit, flash light, non toxic insect repellants, arm sling, tongue depressors and rehydration fluids.

The most common injury for kids is getting splinters while playing in the grounds and parks with bare feet or getting the foreign bodies under their skin due to thorns, gravel, fish hooks, pencil graphite etc. The splinters can be easily removed but remember they can cause inflammation. So seek a pediatrician immediately irrespective of whether first aid is given or not. Ask them to wear good quality shoes while playing in the ground and socks while handling with wood and glass.

If a kid gets minor cuts and scrapes then clean the wound immediately with soap and water. Apply an antibiotic ointment and bandage the wound with adhesive bandage pad. If it is a bruise it will clear up on its own, otherwise apply a heating pad for quick recovery.

Another major danger for kids is getting sunburns. Sunburn symptoms include red skin with blisters and pain. Sometimes the child may get fever. While dealing with sunburns apply cool soothing lotion such as aloe vera on burn. Give your child extra fluids, pain reducers and oral antihistamines.First Aid Kits For Children

If the children get any burns it should be handled with extra care. If it is first-degree burns then apply the burn cream and wrap it with a sterile pad. If it is second-degree burns clean the affected area and apply a burn cream. Then seek the medical advice as these burns may develop blisters on the skin. Third-degree burns are life threatening. So call the ambulance immediately. Train your children to know the difference among these three and how to tackle the situation.

In case of serious injuries like head or neck, keep the cold pack on swollen area as long as the child can tolerate. Give him courage and psychological support by your words. Cover the child with blanket to keep warm and take him to hospital immediately. Tactical medical solutions are taught to children to tackle the emergency situations in the absence of their parents.

Ow-wee first aid kit is designed for kids to combat the minor injuries. This kit contains first aid manual, alcohol cleansing pads, antiseptic cleansing wipes, patch bandages and adhesive bandages, antibiotic ointment and insect sting relief pads.
