Choosing The Right Designer Glasses Style To Suit Your Face

Choosing The Right Designer Glasses Style To Suit Your Face

Choosing the right pair of glasses can be a very complex process

. You need to pay attention not only to the quality and price of the eye wear but also make sure the glasses perfectly suit your face. You need to buy the right fit, meaning the size of the glasses should be in proportion with your face.

To avoid trying on every pair of glasses in the store or even worse, order a pair online and realize afterward that it does not suit your face; you simply need to determine your face shape and coloring. Once you do that, finding the designer glasses styles to suit your face will be extremely easy and youll end up saving time and energy.

The seven basic face shapes are round, oval, oblong, base-down triangle, base-up triangle, diamond and square. According to The Vision Council, there is a specific type of frame that works best for each of these shapes. Heres what you need to keep in mind when you choose your new glasses:

Round since a round face has curved lines with the width and length in the same proportions and no angles, you need angular narrow eyeglass frames, a clear bridge and rectangular shaped frames.

Oval this is considered to be the ideal face shape. If you have an oval face you need to choose either eyeglass frames that are as wide as or wider than the broadest part of the face or walnut-shaped frames.

Oblong The oblong face is longer than it is wide, has a long cheek line and in some cases a longish nose. If your face is oblong-shaped, the best glasses for you are the ones with frames that have more depth than width, decorative temples or a low bridge.

Base-down triangle this face shape is characterized by a narrow forehead and wide cheek and chin areas. To complement a base-down triangle shaped-face, a pair of designer glasses with heavily colored and detailed frames along with cat-eye shapes is the ideal solution.

Base-up triangle If the top third and small bottom third of your face are very wide it means you have a base-up triangle shaped face. What suits you best in this case are frames that are wider at the bottom, light colors and materials and rimless frame styles.

Diamond An interesting fact is that this is the rarest face shape. The diamond face is characterized by a narrow eye line and jaw line and broad check bones. To soften its features, you need to choose rimless frames, oval and cat-eye shapes.

Square this face shape is recognized because of the strong jaw line, broad forehead and by the fact that the width and length of the face are in the same proportions. If you have a square-shaped face, what suits you best are the narrow frame styles and narrow ovals.

After matching the glasses to the face shape, you have to move on to the next step which is color analysis of the skin, eyes and hair.

Skin- you either have a blue/cool or yellow/warm complexion. A cool complexion has blue and pink undertones, while a warm complexion has yellow and orange tones.

Eyes colors also range from a cool (blue, violet, and pale blue) to a warm (brown, hazel, black) shade.

Hair colors can also be cool or warm. Cool hair colors include platinum, blue black, gray, and strawberry blond. Golden blond, flat black, brown-gold are considered warm.

After determining if you are cool or warm, you can find the frame colors that will suit your face best. For example, camel, gold, copper, peach, orange, coral, red and warm blue go best with a warm type. Black, gray, plum, magenta, pink, blue and jade go well with cool coloring.

Keep these guidelines in mind when you go shopping for designer glasses and youll surely discover the style that suits your face shape.
