Avoiding Power Trips

Avoiding Power Trips

No employer today is independent of those about him

. He cannot succeed alone, no matter how great his ability or capital. Business today is more than ever a question of cooperation, Orison Swett Marden, American author and founder of Success magazine.

How many times has a parent or teacher spotted a child win at something only to dance around the loser in victory as the others head was hung low in shame? Many know this as being a sore winner. Are children allowed to think they are better than another person simply because they won a game or finished a task quicker? Are children encouraged in the skills they excel at, but reminded that all mankind is created equal and should be treated accordingly? Do todays youth know that every individual has strengths and what one excels at another might not, and vice versa? Is todays youngest generation given opportunities to lead and shown how to do it right? Or do children learn from the adults around them about power trips and taking advantage of those below them in the food chain?

One could say that King Argoz won the genetics lottery. He became King in Paolo Tiberis tale The King and the Thief (one of 8 stories in Chronicles of King Argoz, Prince Ultan and Princess Maya) by being born, a feat not many can claim. As the story of King Argoz unfolds, it is easy to see how he is ungrateful of his position. From his palace, he doesnt see the hard work that the people perform to see to his needs. He does not see their value as humans.

He ignored the people and thought they were beneath him. His actions showed that he thought their only purpose was to gratify his senses with luxury and beauty.Avoiding Power Trips

King Argoz felt the only use of the people was to pay taxes to keep him living his high life. Honestly, it is quite easy to let power go to the head. The child with straight A's just knows she's the smartest kid in the school. When her actions start demeaning other children, there is a serious problem. The kid that makes the most touchdowns and three-pointers feels like the toughest kid around. When his attitude becomes one of better not mess with me, it has entered a very dangerous area. It is very good for parents and teachers to encourage greatness from their children and students, but a spoon full of humility and a pinch of meekness should be added as well. A student with amazing grades can be encouraged to tutor other students and thus gain an understanding of the struggles some have. A great athlete can be asked to teach special needs kids or to volunteer at the Special Olympics to ensure that meekness remains a part of his character as his skills increase.

With great victories one should celebrate, but one should also never forget to shake the hands of rivals and should always remember that in the next game, the rivals could very well be the victors. With positions of power, one should take care to appreciate all the hard work each member of the team gives to the whole. Learning to appreciate others with a spirit of meekness and humility will foster environments where people will work together more cohesively and accomplish greater objectives. After King Argoz began to value his subjects, his Kingdom saw great growth and improvement.

A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life depend on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving, Albert Einstein, German-Swiss-U.S. scientist.

Chronicles of King Argoz, Prince Ultan and Princess Maya is the first of a series of riveting books in the Legends of Altai series by renowned self-awareness expert, Paolo F. Tiberi.

The book is revolutionary as it teaches kids respect, life lessons and values through storytelling, a language that all kids can understand.

The Legends of Altai is intended as a Life Manual for children and has been described as 'The Secret meets The Alchemist and the Chicken Soup for the Soul' rolled into one.Avoiding Power Trips
