Austria - There Is More To This Country Than Snow Capped Mountains

Many people will choose to visit Austria during the months of October and March as this is when the best snow is falling. However, what many people do not realize is that this is a country that not only offers great skiing but a number of other wonderful activities that can be enjoyed outdoors.

So if you are considering visiting Austria when the skiing isn't available then when would be the best time to do so? Below we take a look at the when is the best time to visit the various parts of this wonderful country.

For those who would like the opportunity to explore the national parks or other parts of the countryside then the best time to visit would be between May and September. This is when generally the weather is at its best. Although the temperatures may not be as high as you would expect in countries such as Italy, Spain or Greece it can still be pleasantly warm. But do remember to pack some wet weather gear as the chances of even a light shower at this time of year is very high.

However if you would prefer to visit the country when the weather is a little cooler then you are best off choosing to holiday here during the months of March and April or October and November. The temperatures are much more consistent with what you would expect on an English summer's day but with a little more rain.

But should you wish to make sure that where you go in Austria you are not faced with too much rain then avoid visiting areas north of the Alps, such as Salzburg. Unfortunately due to the flow of air around the Alps the risk of rain is much higher. In some cases it has been known to rain for days on end.
