Basal cell Carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer. Millions of American has this kind of cancer. Most of the treated cancers are actually of this kind. This is caused because of too much sunlight.

The symptoms of this disease can be found on the scalp, face and upper torso. Basal cell carcinoma has many forms but it begins with a small shiny lump on the skin. It looks like a sore that does not heal or sometimes it heals but comes back again looking unhealthy. It doesn't grow fast and it rarely spread to different parts of the body but it still has to be treated fast to avoid complications.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Yearly, there are two hundred thousand Americans diagnosed with this disease which is second to the Basal Cell Carcinoma. Twenty percent of patients with skin cancer are diagnosed of this type. This also caused by too much exposure under the sun which is common among young and old alike. The cancer first looks like a crusty spot. It is a reddened spot and looks irritating and looks more like a boil or small growth. Squamous cell carcinoma can spread to other parts of the body so it is recommend seeking advice with your doctor once you notice this on your skin.

Malignant Metanoma

This type is the most dangerous type of skin cancer. Four percent of those who are diagnosed to have skin cancer have a Malignant Metanoma. This is the most deadly type of skin cancer, a reason for it being the most dangerous. If this is detected on its early stage, it can be cured up to ninety five percent. However, if it is not detected earlier and the cancer has already spread in different parts of the body, it is almost impossible to cure. So if you have observed some change in a mole or if you have a new mole and you are over thirty years old see your doctor immediately to address the issue and to avoid complications.

Paget's disease and Kaposi's sarcoma

The least common type of skin cancers are Paget's disease and Kaposi's sarcoma. Paget's are caused by another cancer. If there is a cancer in the sweat glands or the intestines or genitals and the urinary tract then the cancer can be found on the genital area or somewhere near the anus. The cancer can also be found in the surrounding areas of the nipples. This is due to the cancer of milk ducts which both men and women are vulnerable to this type. The cancer would look like a patch of skin with rashes and is very itchy and sometime very painful as well. You need to undergo a Biopsy to determine if it is the Paiget's disease or just an ordinary skin condition. Kaposi's Sarcoma is skin cancer which is related to AIDS or herpes.

It is recommended to know and educate yourself with the types of cancer to protect yourself from these unwanted diseases.
