Skin Care: It's Time For You To Man Up And Adopt A Skin Care Routine
Most men aren't even aware they have a skin care routine
, but they do, even if initially it's scrubbing their face with the same bar of soap that just cleaned the area between their toes. While this method may get off the grime, it won't help you look your best.
A simple routine that includes a facial cleanser, moisturizer, protection, and the occasional exfoliation treatment can do wonders for your appearance and confidence. The best part is that it doesn't take up too much time or money either.
Men are notorious for believing one hygienic product is all that is needed to take care of their entire body-soap. Using regular bar soap (or worse, shower gel) as your regular care regime can be damaging. You can dry out it or cause acne to flare up.
Good care starts with basic cleansing, and while you certainly don't need an expensive face wash, you will need something made specifically for your skin type. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, look for cleansers that can unclog pores or that have salicylic acid, which helps dry it up.
Those with flakey or rough textured complexions should opt for deep moisturizing washes. There are also combination cleansers as well as those formulated for sensitive one. Read the labels and you'll find one that is suitable.
Men are often done with their skin care routine after cleansing, deeming anything beyond that is far too feminine and unnecessary; however, if you want to keep a healthy complexion and stay young, you'll want to add a bit of moisturizer to your morning regime. Moisturizer helps keep it hydrated and smooth, which can be especially helpful after an irritating shave.
No procedure is complete without liberal application of the best product available today for your sunscreen. If you can't bring yourself to moisturize, the least you can do is protect your face from the damaging and harmful effects of the sun.
Before leaving the house you should always apply a layer, and then reapply every few hours. Even if it isn't sunny outside, UV rays can still penetrate your skin. Sun damage can cause uneven tone, cancer, wrinkles, and dark spots. Make sure sunscreen is on the top of your skin care priorities.
Most men are fortunate enough to get plenty of exfoliation when they shave, but it's still a good idea to cover those spots where the razor doesn't reach. Exfoliation is using a mild scrub to slough off the dead cells on the surface of the face.
It can also help prevent ingrown hairs and clogged pores. Using an exfoliating cleanser or scrub once or twice a week is usually enough to see a difference in your complexion. If you have sensitive one, there are many milder formulas and you may choose to cut back to only once every two weeks.
