Located in the region of Andalucia, Spain, Nerja is a seaside resort located in Costa

de Sol; it is normally associated with fishing villages and communities because of its location. Aside from being the first resort not to be obstructed or covered by unsightly concrete buildings, Nerja also boasts of being situated at the beautiful foot hills of the Sierra Almijara mountains. With these attributes, the main industry of Nerja would be tourism.

Unlike Madrid, which is known for its nightlife, Nerja is a quiet and tranquil town which is deemed as an ideal location for people to retire to because of the absence of discos and clubs. In spite of the absence of the mystical and busy allure that most Spanish towns have, Nerja draws tourists to it with its peaceful coast line and homey village.

A few places to visit while in Nerja would include the Balcon de Europa, which is a situated in the central part of Nerja with a wonderful view of the coast; this is an ideal place for friends to meet for coffee and tea. The next attraction would be the El Salvador Church which is an astonishing church built in the 17th century adapting the baroque-mudejar style of architecture. The next attraction is actually one of the main attractions in Spain, the Nerja caves. The Nerja caves are a series of caverns that stretch about 5km; one of the chambers is actually a regular venue for holding concerts as it forms a natural amphitheater.

There are thirteen kilometers worth of beaches in Nerja, including the world re-known Playa Burriana which has been awarded the Blue Flag by the European Union on several occasions. Although the sand of Burriana beach is coarser than the usual fine sand one can find in other beaches, the view is simply breath taking and people actually pay to sit and enjoy the view in certain fenced parts of this beautiful beach.
