A Cruise Can Be a Self-Catering Vacation

A Cruise Can Be a Self-Catering Vacation

If you've been efficient in planning your cruise vacation, everything should be in order on the day of your departure. Whether you've signed up for a self-catering cruise or an all inclusive, your excitement is probably at its peak, wondering if you've forgotten anything. If you've signed up with a good reputable travel agent or cruise company, leave it all up to them. They've done this a million times before and will make your cruise perfect in every way.

Make sure you leave for the terminal in plenty of time. This is the same as if you were traveling for a holiday or driving to the airport. There will be a crowd of many people like you all excited about their upcoming holiday or fun cruise. You need to allow enough time to get all the last check in details completed as well as have enough time in the case of any last minute emergencies. There is nothing to add more stress than to find out at the last minute that some important detail has been forgotten.

When you get in the terminal, it will be very similar to the airport with security being top-notch, especially since 9-11. You will go through the typical metal detectors and whatever security measures they require. Please do yourself and others a favor and real all the fine print regarding their requirements. Failure to follow any of their rules can result in delays for your and your fellow passengers. One rule that many try to break is bringing their own luggage aboard.

The cruise line has very efficient porters to help with your luggage. They will load your luggage and packages into a bin, where it will be loaded on the ship. You won't have to give it another thought until you dock. When you stop, the porters will deliver your luggage to your cabin as soon as they possibly can. With as many customers as they get on one cruise, it may take a little while for them to get to your cabin. A great tip ($5 is reasonable) might help, but please be patient with them as they do the best they can.

The ship's personnel will give you a number or letter and ask you to wait in the lounge until it's time to board the ship. If you're early, you will have time to get to know some of your fellow passengers. You never know how many lasting friendships have been started on cruises.

When it's time, they ship's photographer will take your picture and allow you on board, where you can find your cabin and check it out as well as all of the amenities.
