Mzima springs are located in Tsavo National Park in Kenya and it's a major tourist attraction site to the area. The springs are located to west side of the park. The source of the springs is from a natural resvoir in the Chyulu Hills that sit on the northern part of the park. In the hill there is volcanic lava rock that is too porous to allow rivers to pass through and instead rain water that has collected for over many years pass underground to the springs. Mzima Springs is a natural well whose water covers a journey of 50 kilometers before getting to the destinations. Through this journey the water undergoes a lot of filtration giving an end product of very clean stream that flows through a series of pools. The amazing thing is that two kilometers downstream from the springs, the stream is blocked by a solidified lava flow and then disappears below the surface again. The springs are home to the Nile crocodiles and hippos.
