Large concentrations of microbes work well when things get backed up, especially in the lagoon situation.

With microbes, the first phase of cleanup is thorough, therefore resulting in an easy second phase. However, the final phase can be the most important one of all. In many wastewater treatment plants, the last phase is also called the advanced treatment phase. Microbes are better to use than chemicals to diminish excess nutrients. They also help to solve downstream problems. The use of microbes means having to use fewer chemicals for these processes.

The sludge that is left after wastewater has been treated emits a horrible odor. Microbes are also used to help minimize the amount of sludge to be disposed of. This method also takes out the toxins in sludge making it a lot safer to dispose of. Microbial water treatment is an effective biological way to clean up the water supplies around the world.
