Yellowstone National Park is found in the United States
. It was created in March, 1872. More than 318 species of birds have been documented in the park. The park lists only those birds that are residents of the area. The birds include geese, ducks and swans. These birds are adapted for aquatic life and have webbed feet to allow easy movement and floating in water. Their bills are flattened so that they are able to peak on small fish and other water reptiles for feeding.Yellowstone National Park has other birds like Blue Grouse. These are terrestrial species and are variable in size. They are usually plump and have broader short wings. Most of them are game birds but humans consume them as food. There are around 180 of their species worldwide, while 5 of them are found in the park. The other group of birds found here are Grebes. They are small to medium large sized freshwater diving birds and also excellent swimmers. They are only 20 species in the world and 6 in the park.
Spread across a sprawling 2,219,789 acres the Yellowstone National Park is bigger than Delaware and Rhode Island together. It is home to around 322 bird species, 1100 native plant species, 16 fish species and many species of wild animals. It has more than 250 waterfalls and 9 exclusive centers to visit. It also has 12 campgrounds to enlighten visitors.
The park is a major tourist attraction for visitors from across the globe. Since there is no public transport to this place during summer the roads are busy with heavy traffic congestion. The main attractions of the Yellowstone National Park are the Boiling River, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the Gardner River Canyon. Besides this tourists enjoy hiking, boating, biking and ranging.
The spring and geyser pools scattered throughout Yellowstone are colored brightly and attract many photographers and spectators from around the world. The colors in these pools are created by volatile chemicals (mostly forms of sulfur) that leach fourth from the volcanic activity below. Not only are these pools some of the hottest natural spring pools in the world, but some of the most dangerous to humans and wildlife as well.
Yellowstone National Park is mostly located in Wyoming, and entirely nestled in the Rocky Mountain range that stems from Canada to the southern United States. Due to its location, Yellowstone is ab-rust with many forms of naturally occurring wildlife, flora, and fauns species. Many families visit the park in hopes to glimpse the bison, bears, cougars and wolves that call the park home.
Horseback packing is another adventure mode of travel within Yellowstone. The Thorofare, a route used by ancient Indian to trap animals, offers the most spectacular scenery. Adventure companies and ranches can outfit trekkers for the trip, traveling by horse and camping by night in the wild wilderness is a rare experience altogether. Camping at chosen sites around the park is the best way to see the abundance of flora and fauna that the park has on offer.
