Yamaha Raptor 90 Mini ATV Review
A new breed of mini ATVs is on the market and kids are salivating over them as they come out in ever cooler designs and configurations. The Yamaha Raptor 90 Mini ATV is one such machine that has taken the "kid's version" ATV market by storm. This is not a race mini out of the box, but has enough power and performance to thrill all but the more jaded competitors who have ridden in mud slinging races on high performance machines.
Independent performance tests on the machine have been very positive with few downsides to the machine's handling, performance and power. The Yamaha Raptor Mini will fit a wide range of kids sizes and will last a while with any entry to intermediate rider before having to go to anything bigger and more powerful. Testing on courses that include flat, hard turns, sand, gravel, creek beds and mud have put the machine to every test imaginable with the little powerhouse coming out shining in every case.
Kids will find the Yamaha easy to handle and maneuver over and around any terrain it's suitable for, with performance of the machine rated very highly by most dependable testers who have run it through its paces. Most testers rated the Yamaha Mini as more powerful than comparable models, with handling exceeding expectations. Some testers rated the machine as a bit "too soft" in the suspension, but that can be taken care of with some minor tweaking of the machine.
This is a machine made for small riders (kids)so parental concerns have to be part of the mix also. A parent buying this machine today won't likely have to trade it in on a bigger one in six months. The Yamaha Raptor MINI is roomy and manufactured so a kid has room to grow and not have to abandon the machine to a little brother or sister. Engine noise is about usual without being particularly loud or soft.
As to safety, the Yamaha Raptor has adequate power to not be disappointing to young riders, but not so much that it becomes unmanageable for those just learning to ride. A speed limiter is available for the machine that can simply be plugged in to the CDI for the learning stage. After the parents are comfortable that their kid can handle the machine, the limiter can simply be unplugged providing full power for their young rider.
The Yamaha Raptor 90 MINI ATV is a great machine to teach young, inexperienced riders how to handle an ATV and is a dependable machine that parents can have confidence in. A learning rider should be able to use this ATV for several years before an upgrade will be required.
MINI in this Yamaha means the smallest in this line. It is powered by an 88cc, four stroke air cooled engine. It has a constantly variable (automatic in ATV terms) that automatically adjusts as the rider throttles, brakes, slows to turn, etc. This makes it ideal for learning riders. Power to the rear wheels is supplied by an adjustable chain system. Excellent traction is supplied by the big Maxxis tires.
For great fun for kids go kart kits come in all styles, colors and configurations. Even pedal go carts are now available manufactured with high end technology and materials.
