When you start your journey along the Costa Blanca at the south you will come across first the towns of Pilar de la Horadada or Torrevieja. This part of the Mediterranean coastline is the southernmost of the Alicante Province. This area is known as the Costa Blanca which translates to the White Coast it is call this due to the beautiful white sandy beaches, most of the houses are also whitewashed and the sun is no exception with its blinding whiteness. As you look at the coastline it will remind you of a pearl necklace especially with the town of Guardamar, Javea, Altea, Benidorm, Torrevieja, Moraira and Alicante all glistening white dotted along the coast. Any one of these towns would be a good place to book your VILLAS IN ALICANTE province.
Why holiday on the Costa Blanca?

The best way to reach the Costa Blanca by air is to travel to Alicante airport as you can take a taxi, bus or hire a car to your final destination. Alicante sits at the foot of a hill with a Moorish Castle on top overlooking the towns harbour. This castle, Santa Barbara, has been the site of many a bloody battle including attacks from the French, British and the infamous Barbary Pirates that laid siege this part of the coast for centuries capturing people for the slave trade. Just imagine standing on the ramparts of this castle when a corsair pulls up in harbour preparing to disgorge its cargo of pirates to pillage the city. The original city of Alicante was built a little further inland by the Carthaginian in 300 BC where the archaeologist have excavated finding proof of their settlement.

One of the most interesting places is the promenade separating the quiet harbour from the busy city. This walkway is tiled and lined with native palms giving it an appearance of a tropical island. The harbour is home to some expensive yachts that are a joy to watch as they enter and leave to port. During the peak season there are usually some live bands playing excellent music from times past of present, if you listen you can almost hear the wind rattling the palms.

The first thing you should do when you arrive at your destination is pay a visit to the local tourist information centre and pick up a pamphlet on the area. This will make sure you don't miss anything of interest to you. Before you make your plans check on the internet for festivals in Alicante, the most important one to look for is the Saint John Bonfires. One of the interesting things the locals do is to build bonfires on the beach and at midnight they write a wish on a piece of paper and jump over the bonfire and throw the paper in the fire, presumably the wish will come true. This party carries on for a few days all night long so get plenty of rest before you come as you need to be ready to do some jumping. This alone is a good reason to book your holiday VILLAS IN ALICANTEso get to work and schedule that vacation.
