Going to Wildwood next summer? Thinking about Wildwood or another Jersey Shore town
? Wildwood is a great shore town choice! Why? Wildwood has all that the other towns have to offer and more.It has the best beaches and they are free. You have the option of renting such a diverse selection of homes or motels and hotels. There is a great range of prices. You can rent a low cost motel or studio or rent a luxury oceanfront home or condo. Wildwood has it all. If you have not been to Wildwood since before the housing boom, it will look alot different to you. Many hotels/motels have been torn down and many new condos and large resorts have been built. Even though Wildood has changed so much over the years, you can still find the Retro Doo-Wop hotels. Look for other articles as I will fill you in more on some of the newer resorts.
Wildwood also has one of the best boardwalks at the Jersey Shore, if not THE best. It has rides for all ages. There are 3 piers of rides and two waterparks. There are many kiddie rides to extreme rides with the likes of "Springshot" "SkyScraper" or "Screamin Swing" on Morey's Piers and many types of rides in between. There are many arcade places to chose from as well. We love to go to the boardwalk and sample all the good boardwalk type food, then simply do a few rides, play a few games, taste all the polish water samples, then get some ice cream or polish water while we people watch. And oh yes, "watch the tram car please"!
Speaking of boardwalk food, Wildwood also has a huge selection of food/restaurants to choose from. You can find great boardwalk food like hotdogs, sausage sandwiches, pizza and of course great lemonade, ice cream, polish ice, and cotton candy to name a few items! If you choose to not eat on the boardwalk, you can find a pub for beer and sandwiches, or an upscale restaurant. Wildwood has it all! Nearby Cape May also has great restaurants.
Another reason we love Wildwood (by the way, we used to go to LBI), is once our kids were born, as younger kids they needed a pool as well as the ocean and sand. Many places in Wildwood have pools. Most of the hotels and motels have pools, but also the private condos and homes have them as well. Seapointe Village has 4 pools, one of them being an indoor/outdoor pool. There is an indoor water park as well in a hotel called Montego Bay resort. I don't know anything about it, but I have seen it. It also has an outdoor pool.
There is minature golfing, public tennis courts, public basketball court. There are night clubs and hotels with nighttime entertainment. You can find Irish pubs, sports bars, and dance clubs as well as old time saloons, and much more.
There is always something happening in Wildwood. There are motocyle races on the beach to car shows, craft shows, Irish Weekend, Fireman's weekend, kite flying, motor boat races on the lake, bike week, etc. the town is always hopping. The Convention Center draws crowds for the artists and musicians that come to entertain. Wildwood does not go to sleep after Labor Day.
And don't forget shopping in nearby Cape May. Learn all about Cape May through the house tours or trolly ride or a horse and buggy ride. There is a restaurant in Cape May called "Elaines". They do Murder Mysteries and a funny "Scrooge" during the holidays.
There is also the Cape May zoo and you are close enough to Atlantic City. The best thing about Wildwood though is the beaches! You gotta love those Wildwood days!
