What are the different types of kids bike?

When it comes to purchasing a child a kids bike, there are many different options that you can choose from. However, sometimes it can be confusing for parents as they have so many options to choose from. In this article we will discuss the three best-known types of a kid's bikes and which one is the best.

A trike

The trike is the most out-dated version of a kids bike. This bicycle has one wheel in front and two at the back. Since the development of these trikes there have been several advancements in kid's bike technology. The biggest reason why the trike isn't a good option is because it doesn't give your children any particular benefit. A child doesn't learn how to balance because this is already built into the trike. Your child will become dependent on the trike and be less likely to move onto a real bicycle. Using a trike is one of the biggest reasons that parents struggle to get their children to use a two wheel bike with wheels.

Wooden Bicycles

With a focus on becoming Eco-friendly, parents are purchasing wooden bikes for their children. Parents who purchase wooden bikes and have also used steel bikes will find that there is a definite difference in these two makes. The wooden bikes are much more likely to break. There is also not such a good ergonomics on the wooden bike making it difficult for children to actually pedal and move the bicycle. Poor quality woods are often used to produce these bikes and splinters are often seen on them.

Balance bikes made of steel

Our last option is the balance bike made of steel. These balance bikes are bicycles without any pedals. The concept is quite brilliant. Instead of making your child focusing on pedaling, a balance bike makes your child work on balance. Children who use balance bikes have the additional advantage of working on their balance, co-ordination, motor skills and other developmental advantages. Kids who use balance bikes also move over almost instantly onto bigger bicycles. This is because they are not scared of balancing anymore and therefore can now focus on pedaling. This option is considered the best one when it comes to kid's bicycles.
