Warts Treatment

Warts can be identified as the benign overgrowth of skin cells created by a virus known as Human Papilloma Virus or HPV

. This is a very common and very contagious virus. Once the person is infected, the virus chooses a moist, war place where the skin is thick and causes warts to appear.

It may appear in the face, neck, knuckles, foot soles, and even the genital areas but the most common place for warts to appear is the fingers or the hand. These warts are flesh colored and a lot of times even darker than the flesh itself.

They might be 1mm or 1cm and might be flat or elevated. Some warts are smooth while some are rough. Warts differ from each other depending on the place where it appears. Warts are a common problem and can appear in anybody of any age.

These warts are considered painless but they are extremely unattractive and might be very irritating. The warts that appears in the foot soles and in the genital areas are the most irritating because they are in constant touch with the skin or another material.

Warts require treatment once they do not go away for a long time or once they are painful and create discomfort. They are also removed for cosmetic reasons as we already know that they are ugly.

According to its situation and severity the treatments for warts will differ. There are treatments that will be prescribed by the doctor after close examination. Let's look at them:

O Keratolysis: This is the technique of getting rid of the dead surface skin by utilizing salicylic acid, blistering agents or immune system modifiers or formaldehyde.

O Cryosurgery: This is the treatment method where the doctor freezes the wart utilizing liquid nitrogen. The wart falls off after a couple of days.

O Surgery: The doctor will cut off the warts from the normal skin utilizing his typical surgical tools.

O Electrocautery: In this treatment method the doctor will burn the warts utilizing electricity.

O Injection of Candida, mumps, or trichophyton antigens at the site of the warts.

O Laser treatment is also a popular method of getting rid of warts.

O Over the counter topical medicines with salicylic acid and silver nitrate are useful in removing warts.

O Duct tape occlusion therapy: This involves putting a duct tape over the warts for five to six days and then soaking the area in water, followed by scrapping of the area using pumice stone or emery board.

O Cantharidin: This is a chemical discovered in a lot of members of the beetle family known as moloidae. This chemical causes dermal blisters and therefore is effective in treating warts.

There are also home remedies which help in removing warts. All these treatments are effective but there is no guarantee over the total removal of the warts. The warts may reappear and therefore certain precautionary steps must be taken.
