The main part of the memorial was completed its construction in the year 1982 and is located in the Constitution Gardens that is adjoining the National Mall. The United States National Park Service preserves the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and this memorial receives some 3 million visitors every year. The Memorial Wall was actually designed by the United States landscape architect Maya Lin. Datalantic in Atlanta, which is in Georgia was performed the typesetting of the original names on the wall. There are total 58,159 original names on the wall that was performed by Datalantic.
The wall is made up of two black granite with a height of 246 feet and 9 inches. The granite was actually brought from Bangalore in Karnataka, which is in India and the reason behind bringing the granite from India, is just because of its reflective quality. Visit the Vietnam Womens Memorial that lies at a short distance towards the south of the wall and towards the north of the Reflecting Pool. This memorial was designed by Glenna Goodacre and was dedicated to the women of the United States who were served entirely in the war. It was dedicated on 11th November 1993 and most of the women were the nurses who served in the war. In this, the woman who is looking at the upward direction is named as Hope, the woman praying is named as the Faith, and the woman nursing to an injured soldier is named as Charity.
