UK based solicitors prepare for forecasted autumn of discontent

We may have had a glorious summer, but autumn looks to be full of doom and gloom

. Trade union leaders are drawing up plans for a campaign of nationwide strikes. The strikes are said to involve millions of public sector workers.

It has been suggested that the strikes will begin on October 20th, the same day that George Osbourne will announce plans to cut public spending by 83 billion.

This will be followed by more demonstrations on the 23rd of October. What will then follow will be a series of strikes involving hundreds of thousands of civil servants, teachers, health workers and transport workers.

David Cameron who is currently on paternity leave will be looking to soften the blow of Osbourne's report. Cameron argues that the cuts will promote wider economic growth and actually result in more jobs being created.

The unions have collaborated to create a resolution "to support and co-ordinate campaigning and joint union industrial action, nationally and locally, in opposition to attacks on jobs, pensions, pay or public services".

Public reaction seems to favour the coalition Government in this regard, calling the unions politically minded' and intent on sabotaging the Government.

UK based solicitors are going to have their work cut out for them as employers look to stop the strikes through legal channels.
