Two Activities For Children : Making Beeswax Candles & Drawing smiling faces on a light bulb

In this article I will suggest two activities for children. Use them to have fun with your kids and boost their creativity and imagination. Let's play!

Making Beeswax candles

In the first activity for children we will try to make beeswax candles. They are relatively easy to make. This is a quick and easy activity and most children will succeed in making these candles for their family. As usual, children should be supervised by their parents or an adult. If your kids are very young they shouldn't be allowed to light the candles, just play with them or give them as gifts because they just love to give and take gifts! They will just love this activity.

Activity materials:

- beeswax sheets

- wick

- scissors

- blow dryer

First of all gather all the materials for the activity in the playground. We are ready to begin. Decide how high you want your candles to be. Then cut a piece of wick at the appropriate height. Use the scissors to cut the beeswax sheet if needed (e.g. if it is too long). Now it's time to use the blow dryer. Start by warming the beeswax sheet enough so that it can be rolled. When it warm enough it will likely change color. Then it's the right time to put the wick on the warm side and start rolling. Use the blow dryer when needed to re-warm the sheet. Roll until the candle is finished. When the candle is almost finish make sure you warm the beeswax sheet more than enough in order to stuck well.

Draw smiling faces on a light bulb

This activity helps you use something you could easily throw away. You, with the help of your children, will draw smiling faces on a light bulb. This should be very easy for children to accomplish. They could draw a happy face on one side of the bulb and a sad face on the other. Then they can play with it or create a set of painted bulbs.

Activity materials:

- Light bulb

- acrylic colors

- sealer

Take the light bulb and paint it with the acrylic colors. You can divide it in two sections and draw two smiling faces. Let it dry for a while. Then use the sealer to cover the bulb. You want to do this so the paint won't peal. Let the sealer dry. You are ready! Now you have a smiling face on a light bulb. I am sure your children will enjoy this activity.
