Treatment Of Hemorrhoids - Different Types

Prior to starting the treatment of hemorrhoids

, it is important that the sufferer sees a doctor to diagnose the problem. It is not only hemorrhoids that gives rise to these symptoms and other causes may require specialist medical treatment. Having had a diagnosis of hemorrhoids then it helps, when deciding on the hemorrhoid treatments to be applied, to identify which type of hemorrhoids is occurring.

There are basically two types of hemorrhoids and each one of them requires a different approach to treatment. This is why individuals should never address the condition by themselves without a proper diagnosis. So they should visit a doctor so they can assess the condition and provide a diagnosis in case the problem is something other than hemorrhoids. Having said that here is a description of the two main types.

Internal Hemorrhoids

The internal hemorrhoids form on the rectal passage leading to the anus What happens is that the veins on the internal channel of the rectum which form part of the blood supply start to swell and then become sore and inflamed; this causes great discomfort for the sufferer. Some of the symptoms of this type include bleeding on the stool and the prolapse of the veins. The prolapsed veins may fall out of place temporarily or permanently depending upon the severity. Whichever it is a medical opinion should be quickly sought so as to get the right treatment started soon.

A prolapsed vein is relatively unlikely to be experienced in the early stages. The early symptoms include itching along the edge of the anus and a feeling of wanting to pass stools even very soon after a motion has occurred. Now the patient is likely to be feeling pain. As already mentioned, the existence of blood in the stool is already a clear indicator that something is wrong. So, if any of the s symptoms mentioned are present then the patient should be referred for a diagnosis as soon as is reasonably possible. Always remember that treatment started earlier is more effective and quicker acting. If the situation has badly deteriorated then medical intervention may be the only solution; however, this is only necessary in a very few cases as home remedies, correctly and consistently applied, will normally cure the condition.

External Hemorrhoids

The term 'external hemorrhoids' refers to the location of the damage to the anal veins being located on the skin area adjacent to the anus.. The title of this condition tells you that the location of the condition is outside the anal canal and so it is easier to identify and treat than are internal hemorrhoids. Some of the symptoms of this problem include an itching and burning sensation along the anus that is hard to ignore. Since the problem is easily reachable, some individuals may scratch the area, complicating the problem further.

As for internal hemorrhoids, sufferers will feel additional straining during movements and discover blood traces in the anal area.. For many people the effect is a feeling of needing to excrete more even though all solid waste has been evacuated. When not addressed immediately, the problem would start to develop into a physical lump along the anal exterior. As is the case with internal hemorrhoids, as soon as you feel regular and ongoing discomfort or find traces of blood in your stools then you should refer yourself to a doctor.

Although the consequences of ignoring a problem with hemorrhoids can become serious and require medical intervention, fortunately these occasions are few. In the vast majority of cases both internal and external hemorrhoids will respond to simple home hemorrhoid treatments applied consistently.
