Treat Your Vacuum Like Your Car!
As with most products we spend any amount of money on
, we usually expect them to last a lifetime and that we wont have to, or shouldnt have to, perform any sort of maintenance on them to achieve these results.
Although products these days are usually designed to last as long as possible, it doesnt mean you shouldnt perform any kind of upkeep to ensure they last even longer. For example, when you buy a car, youre supposed to have the oil changed and fluids checked every 5,000 miles. This isnt necessary, and you dont have to do these things technically, but your cars life would be much shorter if you didnt and youd be wasting money in the long run- the same thing goes for a vacuum cleaner.
When you buy a new vacuum, one of the first things you do, should be opening the manual and reading up on any specific maintenance procedures that it suggests to you. If you buy a bagged vacuum, youll certainly have to change the containers within them once it is filled with dirt. If you have a canister vacuum, then youll have to empty the canister when it fills up, and possibly wash it too.
If your vacuum starts making funny noises at any point during operation, you should have its engine belts looked at, as these can occasionally crack and need replacing. After prolonged use, the power cord on vacuums, can sometimes become stripped or have wires protrude from the protective coating; if this happens, you should at least wrap some electrical tape around the problem area until such time that you can have the cord replaced.
Hoover vacuum cleaners are really good models and are known for being low maintenance machines that operate really well and last for a long time.
