. The flight is one of the most beautiful flights in all of the United States of America. The scenery you will see as you look out your planes window is absolutely breathtaking.You will fly over all of the waterways that line the Islands on your trip down. You will be able to see the Overseas Highway which is Route 1 and is also the only road that goes from Miami to Key West. The flight down generally takes about 20 to 40 minutes depending on what type of airplane you are traveling on.
The two connecting airports are Miami International Airport and Key West International Airport. An exciting and nostalgic way to fly to Key West would be by Sea plane. These planes are like taking an amusement park ride. They take off with water splashing up on the windows and then they buck around like a roller coaster and then you land with the splashing of water all over the windows again.
The seaplanes land right behind Christmas Tree Key and then surf up to the shore where a water taxi will then ferry you right up to Duval Street. These planes fly much lower than commercial airplanes but they don't have stewardesses, meals, or air conditioning. On the other hand you will make the people that are taking the four hour commute jealous.
You will have the perfect view of the mangroves and the crystal turquoise water where you can almost see the dolphins and manatees and groupers swimming on your flight from Miami to Key West. The major airlines that service Key West are Delta, American, US Air, Cape Air and Continental. There are daily flights to Key West but the only but the only out of state plate is Delta's Atlanta to Key West route. Another fun way to fly from Miami to Key West is by helicopter.
The helicopters usually fly about 300 to 500 feet above the ground. You can either fly from Miami directly to Key West or you can fly from marathon to Key West. Helicopter's travel at a much slower rate of speed then airplanes so you can really get a good look at all the exciting wildlife and vegetation that the teal colored waters have to offer.
Or another totally unorthodox way for you to fly from Miami to Key West would be by hot air balloon. This would be the most peaceful way to fly that's for sure and will also give you probably the best view that your money could buy.
