Travel Packing Made Easy
Here are a few tips that are going to make traveling more enjoyable
. This list of tips will be helpful to both experienced and those who are traveling for the first time.Make a list of everything you need to take, then pare it down. If you have the slightest doubt about whether you'll use something, leave it at home.
Plan your traveling wardrobe around one or two basic colors. That way, you can mix and match pieces and need only one set of accessories and jewelry.
Whenever possible, choose clothes that are washable and drip-dry. Bring items that can serve several purposes.
For example, choose a raincoat which has a zip-out lining so you can use it in both cold and warm, damp climate; a scarf can serve as a shawl or belt; beach thongs can also be used as slippers.
If you find out the day and evening temperature ranges for your destination, you'll be better able to anticipate your wardrobe needs. Most airlines will supply the information.
If you don't want your clothes to wrinkle in your suitcase, try not to overload it. Deciding how much clothes you are going to need is the first step to selecting a properly sized suitcase.
You should pack in layers. Start with large items, like toiletries kits, appliances and shoes. Put shoes in plastic bags so that they don't soil other clothes. To save more space you can put some small items such as handkerchiefs, belts and socks into the insides of shoes.
Roll clothes that won't wrinkle - sweaters, lingerie, T-shirts - and place them around heavier items. Any empty spaces in the suitcase should be stuffed with tissue paper. This prevents heavy items from sliding and crushing clothes while in transit.
The even weight distribution also makes the case easier to carry. Be sure to close all buttons, zippers and snaps.
When packing trousers in the suitcase, fold them along their natural creases and leave the ends hanging over the sides. If you have more than one pair of trousers then put them on top of the first in such a way that you make the thickness uniform. You can achieve that by alternately putting the top of each garment on the right and left side.
Now, begin to fold the jackets. Spread out each jacket, lining side out, then fold vertically and horizontally. Place each jacket on top of each pair of trousers, folding legs in an alternating fashion over the jacket.
If you plan to do some shopping during your travel, you should also pack a collapsible bag. If you have a habit of using various electrical appliances when traveling, consider buying units which are compact and lightweight. If you are traveling overseas, remember to bring electrical adapters.
