From Dahisar, on the Mumbai border, to Bandra the western express highway can be used by travellers. If you are driving your own car from Surat you take Ansuian road, Swami Dayanand Sagar marg, SH 6, Udhana CNG circle, tower road and grid road to reach state highway SH140. After driving through 217 km long stretch of SH140 you can catch up western express highway to reach Bandra in Mumbai. The distance from Surat to Mumbai can be covered in 4.5 hours depending upon the traffic on the roads.
Private bus operators are running buses from Surat to Mumbai with varied amenities. Depending on the services provided, bus fares vary from Rs 500/- for a non- A/c bus to Rs 1000/- for an A/c bus. Volvo multi-axle semi sleeper class buses are also available, the fare being Rs 2200/- approximately. Buses normally take 6 to 6.5 hours to reach Mumbai.
