Tourism industry in India is a huge industry that contributes nearly 6.23 % to the
national GDP and offers 8.78% of the total employment opportunity to Indians. With the annual growth rate of 9.4%, the Indian tourism industry is expected to become USD 275.5 billion industry by 2018 from the current USD 100 billion. According to the 2007 report of Travel & Tourism Competitiveness, India ranked 6th in price competitiveness and ranked 39th in terms of safety and security in the world.The five top tourists destinations in India are;
Goa- Goa is undoubtedly one of the most popular destinations in India that attracts a major percentage of foreign tourists towards it. Goa is gifted with beautiful beaches and being a former colony of Portugal, Portugese churches are another attraction in Goa. A recently opened Wax Museum is another add on in Goa tourism that houses several wax personalities of Indian history. Goa's carnival, drums and reverberating music, colourful masks and floats, and great dance performances make Goa a hot destination.
Rajasthan- Being one of the most preferred tourist destinations of Northern India, Rajasthan is called as the 'Land of the Kings'.
