With the UK set for a busy period of bank holidays, many switched-on businesses will be gearing their operations up to bringing forward deliveries where possible, to ensure that essential deadlines do not fall foul of the extra days when no deliveries will be made.
This year, there will be no fewer than four official bank holidays in a 12-day period, starting with Good Friday on April 22, and ending with the now-customary early May Day on Monday May 2.

Good Friday and Easter Monday are almost at the latest dates they can be in the calendar for 2011, and with the following Friday being the extra bank holiday which has been granted for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, this year will be the first in many people's lifetimes in which two bank holidays have fallen on a Friday.
It's great news for millions of workers, of course, as they will get not one, but two long weekends in a short space of time. And no doubt many small and medium-sized businesses will be shutting up shop for both of these four-day weekends, to give themselves a well-earned break.
But they will be able to rest far easier if they know that all the parcel deliveries they are expecting have been sent ahead of time, and they can hit the ground running once the holiday period is over.
Equally, working with a UK courier to bring forward deliveries where possible to take account of the holidays will be a smart business move. The sudden rush of four extra days out of their schedule in a relatively short period will mean that they will be facing peaks in their traffic. They will want to ensure that these are as smooth as possible by encouraging customers to stagger their deliveries, and, where possible, bring some forward especially if the delivery timescale required is urgent.

Provided they are organised themselves, and arrange collection of their packages in good time, they will be able to log on to their computers and get valuable confirmation that their parcels have got to their destination, and will not be lying around in a courier company's depot for longer than they need to.
